Take the #ReenactForVeterans challenge - don a historical outfit and take on a fun sponsored challenge of your choices to support Waterloo Uncovered, the charity combining archaeology with veteran care and recovery!
Whether you are an experienced reenactor, a history enthusiast or simply want to support the cause - anyone can take part! All you have to do is dress in historical clothing (be it a past military uniform, a period costume, a vintage outfit or even a bedsheet-toga) and take on a fun sponsored challenge of your own choosing, with the aim of raising funds for Waterloo Uncovered's five veteran support programmes.
You can find some ideas below to get you started - but the choice is yours, so start brainstorming! Once you've picked your challenge, why not challenge a friend, reenactment group or serviceperson you know to take part too?
Read on to find out how to get involved.
Taking part in the #ReenactForVeterans challenge is simple. All you have to do is:
- Choose your challenge - it can be anything you like!
- Set up a JustGiving page - you can do this by heading to the central Reenact For Veterans JustGiving page and selecting the orange 'Start Fundraising' button.
- There are other ways to collect the funds you've raised if you're not keen on making a JustGiving page - find out more below.
- Ask your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and social media networks to sponsor your challenge to raise funds for veterans.
- Post online with the hashtag #ReenactForVeterans to spread the message - and why not tag a friend and challenge them to take part?
- Make sure to tag us so we know what you're up to and can show our appreciation - we're @DigWaterloo on Twitter, Waterloo Uncovered on Facebook and LinkedIn, and @waterloo_uncovered on Instagram.
Here at Waterloo Uncovered, we use heritage and archaeology, combined with veteran support delivered by our expert Wellbeing Team, to help those who have served their country when they need it the most. All funds raised will go towards the cost of the five veteran support programmes we are running in 2022, to support as many veterans and serving personnel as possible.
These programmes combine year round wellbeing support with archaeology, creative arts, education, social activities to improve wellbeing, combat loneliness and help transitioning into civilian life. Learn more about our programmes here.
